Why Bateson?

For over 40 years, we have proudly served as primary agents for Bateson trailers, and as a family-run business ourselves, we appreciate their long-standing history and extensive experience. Established in 1934 at the dawn of the trailer industry, Bateson has become one of the leading manufacturers in the UK. Their design expertise, having created nearly every type of trailer, has enabled them to offer around 100 standard models suitable for various applications. They are continually innovating new models and designs that focus on weight distribution, towing vehicle loads, and towing capacities to enhance safety and meet increasingly complex regulations. Through our collaboration with Bateson, we have introduced numerous concepts and ideas for our customers adding a more personal touch.

The variety of trailers is extensive, and we have only briefly covered the options, so feel free to contact us regarding your model choices, specifications, availability, and pricing. We would be happy to help you.

Model List
  • Beaver Tail Transporter

Beaver tail transporter trailers come in three weight categories: 2 tonnes, 2.6 tonnes, and 3.5 tonnes gross, along with three approximate lengths of 14’, 16’, and 18’. Each trailer is equipped with 8’ long steel loading ramps and can also have front drive-over ramps that slide out from beneath the body.

  • Classic Livestock Trailers

Bateson Livestock Trailers have been manufactured for over 70 years, evolving continuously to comply with changing regulations concerning vehicles and animal transport. All standard livestock trailer models feature a hot-dipped galvanised chassis, with 2 mm toughened alloy sides and a heat-reflecting, plastic-coated galvanised steel roof.

  • Plant Trailers

Heavy-duty plant trailers are offered in two weight ranges: 2.6 tonnes and the maximum allowed weight of 3.5 tonnes for the popular 35MD model; they come in three body lengths to meet the needs of modern plant and machinery.

  • Tipping Trailers

There is a selection of four hydraulic tipping trailers; the smallest being the 720H. The 202H model has a gross weight of 2000kg and can be tipped manually, avoiding the expense and complexity of electric tipping systems. In contrast, the 263H and 353H models, both measuring 3m in length, come with a 12v pump and battery box. All models feature 30cm steel sides as standard and can be customized with options like mesh extension sides and rear gates.

  • Unbraked Trailers

Trailers are not required to have brakes until the gross weight exceeds 750kg. The platform trailers 520, 720, and 72H are constructed using many of the same materials and standards as our 3500 kg trailers. The B53, B64, B84, and B85 are made from pre-galvanised, heavy-duty, 2 mm thick steel, laser-cut, punched, and formed using the latest CNC technology. All trailers come with a variety of options, making them suitable for numerous applications.

  • Eurostock Livestock Trailers

The Euro Stock trailers are built to meet the demands of various transport needs, such as in-hand showing of livestock at the local County show. Offering a range of possibilities and available in numerous size and weight options, these trailers are versatile even for carrying such as small machinery to larger stock.

  • General Purpose Trailers

The Bateson range of general-purpose trailers is engineered to provide maximum strength while maintaining a low unladen weight, a contemporary look, and safe, stable towing characteristics. All models feature a hot-dipped galvanised steel chassis with 2mm thick pre-galvanised steel sides that are 300mm deep and an 18mm phenol-coated non-slip plywood floor.

  • Hydraulic Tilt Trailers

Bateson hydraulic tilt trailers are designed for transporting various vehicles and machinery. The low platform and shallow approach angle facilitate the quick loading of equipment with minimal ground clearance or a long front overhang. They are available in three categories: the GT range, single-axle low-loading general-purpose trailers suitable for all types of horticultural and construction equipment; the AT range, twin-axle auto-tilt platform trailers for machines and vehicles weighing up to 2 tons; and the versatile PT range of tilting platform trailers, available with twin or triple axles up to a gross weight of 3500kg.

  • Platform Trailers

Bateson Platform trailers are produced in three weight ranges: 2 tons, 2.6 tons, and 3.5 tons, with body lengths varying from 2.5 metres to 5 metres and special options up to 7 metres. Standard widths are 1.5, 1.8, and 2 metres, but custom widths can be made up to a maximum of 2.5 metres. Trailers measuring 4.3 metres or longer can be equipped with a sloping beaver tail or a full hydraulic tilt and ramp door.

  • Transporter Trailers

Bateson hydraulic tilt car transporter trailers have been popular and successful for many years. Each model features a full floor panelled with 18mm phenol ply that tilts back hydraulically, providing a low approach angle for easy loading of vehicles with front spoilers and low ground clearance. The range includes three models: the lightest 22-15 auto transporter trailer, with a capacity of 1560kg; the widely used 27-16, now with a carrying capacity of 2035kg, suitable for most cars and light commercial vehicles; and the largest 35-16, with a capacity of 2670kg, ideal for larger 4x4s, plant, and machinery.

  • Van Trailers

Box Van trailers have been developed over many years. This type of trailer can double a van’s capacity or replace it by towing a car or 4×4. There is no road tax or M.O.T., providing a cost-effective means of transporting goods. The smallest all-fibreglass unbraked 120V has various applications, from carrying extra luggage for taxis to transporting disco and band equipment or racing motorcycles.  The larger trailers feature overrun brakes, with gross weights ranging from 1300 kg to 3.5 tons. The van trailers boast a sleek, modern design with good aerodynamics and a low unladen weight. All chassis are galvanised and equipped with independent rubber suspension axles.
